A skincare routine doesn't need to be 12 steps or expensive. What it needs to be is correct, right products, in the right order, at the right time of day.
Here's a science-backed, India-climate-tested routine.
Your Morning Routine (5 Minutes)
Step 1 — Gentle Cleanser Wash away overnight sebum without stripping your barrier. Look for a pH-balanced formula (4.5–5.5). Avoid sulfates.
Step 2 — Vitamin C Serum Morning is when Vitamin C works best — sunlight activates its antioxidant pathway. It neutralises free radicals from UV exposure and pollution, and brightens over time.
Step 3 — Moisturiser Lock in hydration before the outside world strips it away. Choose gel-based in summer, cream in winter.
Step 4 — SPF 50+ (Non-Negotiable) No other skincare product prevents more skin ageing than sunscreen. Apply generously — 2 fingers worth for face and neck.
Your Evening Routine (10 Minutes)
Step 1 — Double Cleanse Oil cleanser first (removes SPF and makeup), then your regular cleanser. This is the most important step most people skip.
Step 2 — Active Treatment Evening is when your skin repairs itself. This is the time for Retinol, Niacinamide, or Peptide serums. Never use strong actives in the morning.
Step 3 — Hyaluronic Acid Serum On damp skin, apply HA to hydrate deeply overnight.
Step 4 — Night Cream or Facial Oil Seal everything in. Your barrier rebuilds itself between 10 PM and 2 AM — give it the right building blocks.
What to Avoid
Mixing Vitamin C and Retinol in the same routine. Using actives on unwashed skin. Skipping SPF on "cloudy" days (UV still penetrates).
